The pressure level of ductile iron pipes is mainly divided into two systems: K and C. Among them, K (such as K7, K8, K9, K10) is divided by wall thickness coefficient, and the pressure bearing capacity is 1.0-1.6MPa and above; C (such as C25, C30, C40) is divided by allowable working pressure, and the pressure bearing range is 2.5-4.0MPa.

‌K-level pressure level system‌

‌Level definition‌: K-level is distinguished by wall thickness coefficient (K value). The larger the value, the thicker the wall thickness and the stronger the pressure bearing capacity. ‌‌

K7 level: pressure bearing ≤1.0MPa, suitable for low-pressure scenarios. ‌‌

K8 level: pressure bearing ≤1.25MPa. ‌‌

K9 level (national standard level): pressure bearing ≥1.6MPa, widely used in water supply and drainage systems. ‌‌

K10 level and above: customized high-pressure pipes, with higher pressure bearing. ‌‌

‌Application scenarios‌: K-grade pipes are suitable for areas with complex terrain and need to resist foundation settlement, and are usually equipped with triple anti-corrosion treatment (zinc layer + asphalt + epoxy resin). ‌‌

‌C-grade pressure grade system‌

‌Grade definition‌: Based on the international standard ISO2531, the allowable working pressure value is directly marked: ‌‌

C25: 2.5MPa, suitable for general water supply systems. ‌‌

C30: 3.0MPa, used for large water supply networks. ‌‌

C40: 4.0MPa, to meet special high-pressure needs. ‌‌

‌Features‌: The pressure bearing capacity of C-grade pipes is higher than that of K-grade pipes of the same specification, but the anti-corrosion performance may be slightly lower. It is mostly used for low-pressure water delivery or drainage in flat areas. ‌‌

‌Selection suggestions‌

‌Pressure matching‌: Select according to the actual working pressure, such as 0.6-1.0MPa, K9 grade can be selected, and high-pressure scenarios (such as industrial water delivery) give priority to C grade. ‌‌

‌Environmental adaptation‌: Corrosive environments require enhanced anti-corrosion measures (such as zinc layer ≥ 200g/㎡), and cold regions need to consider anti-freeze performance. ‌‌

‌Cost balance‌: Too high a pressure level will increase costs, and professional calculations are required to determine an economically reasonable level.
